INNER GROOVE began as an earnest prayer in the spring of 1997. God's answer came. God said, "Do it." Originally a duo comprised of Blair Frodelius and Joe Policastro, the original Inner Groove played a mix of secular and Christian acoustic covers, as well as several original songs. The first six months saw Inner Groove playing mostly coffeehouses and restaurants, with the odd church gig thrown in, along with a few secular venues. In December of 1997, an opportunity arose for Blair and Joe to put together a four-piece rock band for a gig at a local teen center. Ray Baratta and Kimberly Frodelius joined the line-up. Both had been playing together with Blair and Joe for over two years in their church,s worship ensemble. What was first thought to be an occasional band line-up quickly became the main thrust of Inner Groove,s ministry. The local Christian coffeehouses embraced the full line-up, and more opportunities arose to bring Christian rock into secular venues, secular television studios, and onto secular radio stations. The Lord also provided the opportunity for the band to host it,s own weekly show on local Christian radio. In the spring of 1998, two long-time friends of Blair and Joe expressed interest in joining the band. Dan Miller joined as lead electric guitarist but has since left the group in order to devote his music ministry fully to his home church. Also that spring, Steve Davenport joined as percussionist, a contribution by which we continue to be blessed to this day. In July of 1999, Chuck Riley whom the band had met while doing their weekly radio show, came on board. Chuck filled the lead electric guitar void more than ably, and has proven himself to be a very serious musician, with a sense of humour. And so the acoustic duo is now, a six-piece eclectic Christian rock band. And while the band still occasionally covers favorite tunes, the repertoire has been expanding primarily with an outpouring of new original material ranging from introspective essays to all-out rockers. While it,s great to grow and mature as musicians, Inner Groove sees its greatest blessing in the deepening of its collective walk with the Lord. As each member has grown more deeply committed as an individual, the band has felt more powerfully the inner strength and resolve which only comes from God through Christ. Rehearsal time gives way to times of fellowship, prayer and shared worship. No longer simply band-mates and friends, Inner Groove is a gathering of siblings in Christ whose goal is to serve their Lord wherever He takes them, whatever it takes. _/ _/ "Nothing is sure Nothing is pure And no matter who we think we are Everyone gets his chance to be nothing". - Bruce Cockburn
